Orangutan Haven is currently under development with a planned “Soft Opening” at the beginning of 2023.

Originally conceived as a sanctuary for orangutans that cannot be released to the wild, when operational it will be a unique resource for education, conservation and recreation, unlike anything else in the world.

Visitors will be able to come and see the orangutans on large naturalistic islands surrounded by water moats. Schools and other groups will be able to benefit from a diverse range of formal and informal education programmes. The general public will be able to enjoy a day relaxing in nature, less than 45 minutes from the bustling city of Medan in North Sumatra.
